Once Upon a Times, and Happily Ever Afters

Books, books and more books! Children's literature never looked so good. So let's be honest, kids go through the phase of having their favourite pick, you know the one I'm talking about, the one that you read over and over and over, while suggesting gently a little diversity from Goodnight moon, to perhaps, the Cat in the Hat? Most parents at a certain point can recite the entire book without even looking at the pages, so I wanted to share some books that have caught my eye.

Before I get to it, I wanted to provide some background on why reading to infants (even to your belly) is important. For starters, it is an important bonding time, when baby gets to respond to emotional cues, your voice, and the phonetics in language. The intonations help create a rich network of nerves cells in the developing brain, enhancing the communication, reading and even math skills. One of the best parts of my baby shower, was that friends and family brought books instead of cards, new or pre-loved, with messages that Ezra can have for a long long time! For more info, I'm going to attach some pins to this post. Happy Reading!

Without further ado.. let's start with the top pics:

1. Incredible You! by Dr. Wayne Dyer

My all time favourite I would have to say!!!! I think the messages are just what every kid can benefit from, and it certainly applies for all the ages. The pictures, the rhymes, it can drive some pretty powerful messages home in a fun way!

2. Pop-up Peekaboo, Things that go

Okay so you saw my fav, it's only fair that I put up Ezra's top pick. This one seems to come with all the colours, rhymes, 3D elements and of course the sound effects.. vroom vroom.. weee.. weee.. you get the idea, a definite interactive read.

3. Oh the places you'll go by Dr. Seuss

My incredible sister from another mother sent this for Ezra when he was still tummy bound, and might I say it was a realistic portrayal of the places in life, the ups and downs and ins and outs.. This one is a read with deeper meaning behind the rhymes, kind of like the yins and yangs of life through a colourful lens.. It's a bit long, but the pages flip quick!

4. I think, I am by Louise Hay

This is a powerful one folks, filled with scenarios that make kids think twice about how they can respond to uncomfortable situations.. The messages can be applied by all of kids and kids at heart!

5. Goodnight, I Love You by Caroline Jayne Church

So Goodnight Moon, is a classic, and I really do love Bedtime Blessing, but this one sums it up for Ezra, and its my favourite before bed. She's got many good ones that aunties have bought for him including Sweet Child of Mine and the one that made me tear up the first time I read it, I Love You Through and Through.. SO many to choose from, but as for bed time routine, this one gets the cheer!!

6. Ezra, I Love You More

Okay this one exactly is not on the shelves, but is one of those insert your name books that is on our all time fav list. It absolutely sums up the love between mommy and son, and can work for any family member! Ezra just loves hearing his name with the animation in my voice when we read it together!!

This list is by far not limited to 6 books, but just is a glimpse of some that have caught my eye.. There is definitely going to be an updated addition to the list, but if you haven't read any of these, I suggest picking them up and I hope that you LOVE them as much as we do! And please let me know of the books that you have been enjoying with your little one as well!

Cheers xox
